Hydraulic Seals Are Used…
Hydraulic Seals are used to seal in fluids or other media in reciprocating and linear motion applications. The shaft, rod and piston moves backwards and/or forward, in and/or out, up or/and down. Hydraulic Seals are designed to… Maintain hydraulic pressure Retain the lubricant Exclude contamination Hydraulic Seals are grouped as follows… Piston Seals Rod Seals… Continue Reading
Hydraulic Seals…Introduction
Hydraulic Seals are relatively soft, non-metallic rings captured in a groove or fixed in a combination of rings, to form a seal assembly, to block or separate fluid in reciprocating motion applications. Hydraulic seals are vital in machinery. Their use is critical in providing a way for fluid power to be converted to linear motion.… Continue Reading

Hydraulic Cylinder Seals
Guidelines for Optimum Performance of Hydraulic Cylinder Seals The following basic yet important facts regarding the use of hydraulic cylinder seals will, if followed improve performance and reduce downtime. Excessive Clearances – between the piston and cylinder wall the seal will be subjected to deformation causing extrusion. The pressure will cause the seal to fail.… Continue Reading
Wiper Seal
Wiper Seal (or Scraper seal) The function of the wiper seal is to prevent dirt particles from entering hydraulic or a pneumatic circuit, e.g. cylinders and valves. Contamination of the media will damage the seal, also possibly the surface of the housing and the guide bush. The pre-load and the sharp scraper edge wipes off… Continue Reading

Compression Moulding Process
What is Compression Moulding? Compression moulding is one of several moulding processes. It is the use of compression (force) and heat to shape a raw material e.g. hydraulic and pneumatic seals by using a metal mould. The raw material is heated in the mould until pliable while the mould is closed for a specified period.… Continue Reading
