Seal basics

Seals are frequently moulded or machined products cut into dynamic shapes to fit precisely into the component parts. Seals are a little more complicated than gaskets because they have an outer ring and an inner surface. The outer ring is made of metal and sits directly on top of the rubber inner surface. Because they fit perfectly within one another, the inner circle is slightly tilted and forms a lip for the seal. The inner circle is meant to act as a second barrier against any liquid that passes through the outer ring.
